Participants (18+) Wanted for a Study of Stuttering and Conversation

Adult participants (18+) wanted for a study of stuttering and conversation. We are looking for both individuals who stutter and individuals who do not. You will be asked to pick a partner and together attend five sessions (up to 60 minutes each) to play a card game. You and your partner will each be paid $10 per session. Greater Community AIDS Project Internship/Volunteer Opportunities

The Greater Community AIDS Project strives to improve the lives of those living with HIV/AIDS and to help decrease the spread of the disease. Currently they are striving to increase their presence on social media. If you have experience with Facebook or Twitter and interested in promoting GCAP and their mission, consider applying for this unpaid internship. You can do the work remotely. GCAP collaborates with local resources and organizations to serve its community by providing educational outreach to the public and by providing support to those who are living with HIV/AIDS in the form of transitional housing, emergency financial assistance and other services. College students can also volunteer with the organization to help with events, fundraising, housing projects, or administrative work. Become an Art Museum Docent

This is a great way to begin learning about and interacting with people in the world of the arts! Krannert Art Museum is looking for new volunteer docents: Do you love art and museums? Become a Krannert Art Museum docent. KAM docents lead museum tours to K–12 student and adult groups and receive training on art history and teaching techniques. Candidates must have an interest in learning about art and enjoy interacting

Volunteer at the Muscular Dystrophy Summer Camp

The Muscular Dystrophy Association is looking for volunteers for their annual summer camp (July 13-20th) at Timber Pointe Outdoor Center in beautiful Hudson, Illinois, on the shores of Lake Bloomington. Volunteers would be paired with a camper (ages 6-17) and assist with activities (swimming, adaptive sports, karaoke, etc) and daily living. This is a great experience especially for those interested in education or pre-health careers!

We're trying to put together a student panel for our Admitted Student Day presentations this spring and we're curious if you'd be interested and available to participate? Office of Volunteer Programs (OVP) Ambassador Program

Looking for passionate individuals who are interested in: learning more about service work; impacting the community in a lasting way; and gaining valuable professional experience. 
The program consists of a 6-week course that would combine theoretical, practical, and creative outlooks on service-learning, volunteerism and community development. The only commitment that we ask of students is their participation in the weekly courses. However, if they would like to earn the title of OVP Ambassador, they would be given the opportunity  to complete additional activities such as: participating in 6 volunteer events (3-5 OVP planned events + 2-3 events with outside agencies), and contributing a minimum of three posts to our blog.

Help the Homeless - Sleep Outside in February!

A message about a volunteer/service opportunity from Melany Jackson, M.Div.Chairperson, Council of Service Providers to the Homeless:

Things are falling into place for our C-U at Home One Winter Night fundraiser. We have a date. It will be on Friday, February 3. The idea is to get a few public figures to spend the night in a tent or cardboard box outside to experience just a small taste of what it's like for the street homeless in the winter. We would raise funds, for ex. $200 (depending upon the number of participants) to keep them outside another hour. Champaign Mayor Don Gerard, former Habitat Director Laura Huth, and Savoy United Methodist Church Pastor Jim McClarey have all confirmed their participation.

We would like to involve other elected officials, business owners, pastors, youth pastors, media personalities, U of I RSO's, sororities, fraternities, student athletes, coaches, principals, teachers, professors, and deans, etc. to spend the night outside to raise awareness of homelessness and raise funds to help us house some of the most vulnerable homeless. If you have any ideas for OWN personalities who might participate or a location or any other details, please let us know. We also encourage student groups to get involved and help us come up with some creative ways to pass the time as we shiver together outside all night.
