Government Speaker Events

Tuesday, February 21 - Learn about working for the US Government from a government employee! 


9-10am: How to Utilize your LAS Degree in the Federal Government, The Career Center, Room 143
Interested in exploring how you can use your skills in writing and communication in the federal government? Join Annenberg Speaker Owen Highfill for breakfast as she talks about her path from an English degree to becoming an Operations Specialist with the Office of Conservatorship Operations in Washington D.C. Owen will discuss how she has combined her commitment to public service with her liberal arts background.  Discover fields available in the federal government and learn how you can be a part of this great mission.  Breakfast will be provided. Registration is limited; students must RSVP to vspring - at - Illinois.edu.    


3-4:30pm: Government Drop-Ins/Resume Reviews, The Career Center, Resource Room
Annenberg Speaker Owen Highfill will meet one-on-one with students to help you with your resume or discuss your questions about federal government. This is a great opportunity to speak with someone who has real knowledge of the federal government hiring process!  Drop-ins will be on a first-come first-serve basis; sign-ups will start at 2:45pm in the Resource Room and may be cut off around 4pm.  


6:30-8pm: Exploring Government Careers, Greg Hall, Room 223
Interested in exploring government careers? Join Annenberg Speaker Owen Highfill, Operations Specialist from the Office of Conservatorship Operations as she shares her experiences working in public service and discusses the opportunities that you can find in government.  You will have a chance to network with Owen, hear about her interesting path, and ask any questions you may have about the federal government.
