Poetry-Writing Scholarship!
KEVIN T. EARLY MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP
For Freshmen Students
Deadline: October 14, 2011
Amount: $2,000
The Kevin T. Early Memorial Scholarship is given each year to recognize and encourage a talented freshman poet. The award, established by William and Donna Early, honors the memory of their son, Kevin T. Early, who was himself a talented, dedicated, and award-winning young poet with plans to major in English at Illinois. The purpose of the Scholarship is to encourage talented young poetry writers to continue pursuing their craft.
Eligibility: Any student with freshman standing at UIUC for the 2011-12 academic year and who has demonstrated an aptitude for and a skill in writing poetry.
Rules: Students must submit 5 poems, and the total number of pages for the entire manuscript of poems should not exceed 5 pages. The award will be given to the student with the best overall manuscript of poetry.
